Iceland:
This is one of Iceland's main rivers. It is of medium volume and fished
with seven daily rods. The catch has varied from 700 to 1400 salmon in
a single season. It has recently declined slightly as most other rivers
in the country have swung up. Fisheries biologists are not worried though.
HAUKADALSA This excellent salmon river is one of Iceland's best. It is a medium
volume river and although rather short, it is fished with five daily rods.
There are many pools so the river easily withstands the pressure.
TUNGULÆKUR RIVER Tungulaekur, a phenomenal river, usually full of sea trout and so little fished that anglers venturing there usually have to stop fishing due to sore arms. Four day parties fishing four daily rods plus a few weekends produced over a thousand sea trout from the river, the average weight almost 7 pounds and the largest trout weighing 14 pounds
